Every year, we take the opportunity to look back and reflect on all PCI-SIG® has accomplished as an organization and community in the advancement and promotion of PCI Express® (PCIe®) technology over the previous year. We made progress on the PCIe 7.0 specification, held Developers Conferences and Compliance Workshops around the world and reached a milestone achievement of 1,000 global members. As we approach the end of another productive year for PCI-SIG, we review some highlights from 2024.

  1. PCI-SIG reached 1,000 global members. We were excited to celebrate this historic milestone in December and greatly appreciate the contributions from our member companies over the past 32 years. View the infographic and member company quote sheet and learn more about PCI-SIG member benefits.
  2. We announced CopprLink™ Internal and External Cable Specifications. These cable specifications support PCIe 5.0 and 6.0 signaling at 32.0 and 64.0 GT/s and target storage, data center and AI/ML use cases.
  3. We released PCIe 7.0 specification, version 0.5 to members. This is the official first draft of the specification, which remains on track for full release in 2025. PCIe 7.0 specification is targeted to deliver 128 GT/s raw bit rate and up to 512 GB/s bi-directionally via a x16 configuration.
  4. PCI-SIG Developers Conference returned to Bengaluru, India in November for the second consecutive year. We expanded the educational event to 12 sessions over two days, and it was attended by 558 members from the region.
  5. We also held successful PCI-SIG DevCons in Taipei, Taiwan; Porto, Portugal; Santa Clara, CA; and Seoul, South Korea throughout the year. Watch the Events page on our website for information about upcoming DevCons and sponsorship opportunities.
  6. PCI-SIG participated in four industry events: FMS: the Future of Memory and Storage, SNIA Developer Conference (SDC), OCP Global Summit and SC24. PCI-SIG was an exhibitor, speaker or both at these conferences, which were great opportunities to showcase the AI/ML, storage and HPC use cases of PCIe technology.
  7. PCI-SIG kicked off the PCIe 6.0 Compliance Program with the PCIe 6.0 Preliminary FYI Workshops in June and October. These FYI events assist in the development of the PCIe 6.0 Compliance Program with the goal to launch the official program next year.
  8. PCI-SIG held Compliance Workshops in Taipei, Taiwan; San Francisco, CA; and Honolulu, HI. PCI-SIG Compliance Workshops provide testing and validation resources for products near completion. Visit our website for information about upcoming workshops and other events.
  9. PCI-SIG hosted webinars on variety of topics, including 20 Years of PCIe technology, PCIe cabling solutions, Unordered IO and PCIe Signal Integrity. For updates on upcoming webinars, subscribe to our channel on BrightTALK.

Thank you to our members around the world for helping to make this past year a success. Next year, members can look forward to a new version of the PCIe 7.0 specification, engaging DevCons in a variety of locations around the globe and continued PCIe technology growth in data-demanding markets like AI/ML, Network Edge and HPC. We would like to encourage members to take advantage of their membership in the new year and participate in PCI-SIG work groups, events and more. Visit the Members Area on Causeway for details.
